Ben Bywater out as BYU opens training camp

BYU linebacker Ben Bywater has announces his medical retirement from college football, leaving a gaping hole in the Cougars' defense to be filled by Harrison Taggart, Siale Esera, Sione Moa, Jack Kelly and others in the linebacker room.

BYU football has something to prove in 2024 (with HC Kalani Sitake, OC Aaron Roderick)

BYU football unofficially kicked off the 2024 preseason Monday with its now-annual media and corporate partners golf scramble at Cedar Hills Golf Club, where head coach Kalani Sitake, offensive coordinator Aaron Roderick and others spent time with the media after playing 18 holes in the second year of the event.
The coaches talked about the on-going starting quarterback competition between Jake Retzlaff and Gerry Bohanon, the depth of the QB group with Utah State transfer McCae Hillstead joining the team, and low expectations after the 5-7 season in the Cougars' first year in the Big 12.

Kemery Martin is returning home to play for BYU women's basketball

BYU women's basketball added sharpshooting Cal transfer Kemery Martín to the 2024-25 roster, head coach Amber Whiting announced Friday.
“Kemery is a three-level scorer that will add depth and experience to our young roster,” Whiting said. “She has the ability to shoot it from deep, put it on the deck, get to the rim and she has a high basketball IQ which helps her create for her teammates as well. She is a great fit for our team and will make an immediate impact through her experience and leadership.”
BYU will be Martin's third and final stop on a six-year college basketball career that include stints at Utah and Cal Berkeley, including a pre-redshirt junior season at the U. where she was the team's second-leading scorer averaging 11.1 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists before an injury and transfer to the Golden Bears.
Martin joined the KSL.com Cougar Beat podcast to talk about the move and what she expects out of her final season of college basketball.
